Twitter is finally ramping up its efforts to thwart terrorists who flock to the social network to recruit more followers or spread their message to the masses.
It’s about time.
Only after facing public pressure to combat violent extremism online did the tech firm start using using spam-fighting tools to help pull down hundreds of thousands of accounts that violate its online rules.
So far Twitter has suspended 636,248 accounts for promoting terrorism.
Like we said, it’s about time.
Twitter declined to elaborate on what type of spam-fighting tools the company used.
Twitter has 319 million monthly active users.
The company also announced it was working with other tech firms to combat violent extremism online.
