The Legislature just put one over on cry-baby California Republicans.
Democrats in Sacramento have found a way to derail a “fake news” grassroots effort to recall state Sen. Josh Newman, who cast a key vote imposing a new $5.2 billion annual gas tax to repair California’s crumbling roads.
The power of recall is a powerful tool of direct democracy. It shouldn’t be used by Republicans who are having a tantrum because they are mired in super-minority status in the Legislature.
Newman voted his conscience. He should’t be recalled for doing what his constituents sent him to Sacramento to do.
As usual, California Republicans are wrong, which is why California voters have no confidence in them.
