Whistleblowers say Bay Area Air Quality Management District destroyed evidence

Two former employees of the Bay Area air district say thousands of pages of important records that could hinder the region’s air quality management were destroyed and they were fired when they spoke up.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Contra Costa County Superior Court, Sarah Steele and Michael Bachmann allege that the Bay Area Air Quality Management District destroyed documents critical to the agency’s ability to monitor, enforce and regulate air quality for the Bay Area.
