Drinking is good for you

Recent research suggests that there are profound health benefits to light and moderate drinking, which breaks down to roughly one glass of wine a day for women and two for men.

In a survey of more than 333,000 people conducted from 1997 to 2009, those who consumed a drink or two a day showed a reduced risk of death when compared with non-drinkers.

These health benefits were more pronounced in women, white participants, middle-aged and older people and non-smokers.
