The suspect, Gina Darlene Gonzales, was arrested, issued a citation for vandalism and released at the scene, according to police Sgt. Enrique Garcia, a spokesman for the department.
Officers found Gonzales at the Martin Luther King Library about 11:22 a.m. Friday after she was recognized by a City Hall security guard from a surveillance video of the vandalism on Thursday.
“Officers detained the suspect and viewed video surveillance that showed the suspect vandalize the statue,” Sgt. Garcia said. “Officers confirmed the suspect in the video was the same suspect that was detained.”
