The community leaders – 18 with no city affiliation and six from city boards and commissions – will be selected by Mayor Kevin Faulconer and participate in the first stage of candidate interviews scheduled for mid-January.
The second stage, which will reduce the number of candidates to a maximum of three, will be handled one day later by Faulconer’s top staffers and some local law enforcement experts who have not been selected yet.
The third stage will be interviews conducted later in January by Faulconer himself, after weighing input from the first two stages of interviews and recommendations by the national search firm the city has hired, Bob Murray & Associates.
