#SanFrancisco mega property tax to pay for 10,000 #homeless

Screenshot 2018-01-17 at 09.04.26Five San Francisco supervisors want to put a measure on the June 5 ballot that would raise about $100 million a year to pay for 10,000 homeless people to live in the city.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the ballot measure, dubbed “Housing for All,” targets commercial property.

The initiative — signed by Supervisors Ahsha Safaí, Jeff Sheehy, Malia Cohen, Katy Tang and Mark Farrell — would need the approval of two-thirds of voters to pass.

The measure may be on the ballot with another mega tax increase on gross receipts to pay for child-care subsidies.
