A new study says the faculty and senior leadership at many of California’s public colleges and universities are so overwhelmingly white and male that ethnically diverse students lack role models.
Campaign for College Opportunity identified the racial identity and gender of tenured and non-tenured faculty, campus leaders and system executives at community colleges, California State University and University of California.
The results were not impressive. White teachers, make up the bulk of the tenured faculty, and senior leadership at almost every level of education.
California’s leaders spend a lot of time talking about diversity. Unfortunately for the children, they do nothing to actually create a diverse society.
