Toxic homeless camps threaten #CalTrans workers

According to the Sacramento Bee, it’s dangerous too and workers are demanding some protection.

According to the Bee, the union representing CalTrans maintenance workers filed a grievance against the department, contending that employees responsible for the massive cleanups are not being adequately protected.

In many instances, workers are not given appropriate protective gear, vaccinations, training or enough compensation for the “dangerous hazmat duties they are performing” on CalTrans property.

The grievance was filed by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Unit 12.

Workers are exposed to blood, needles, women’s feminine products and buckets filled with human feces, Who can blame the workers for not liking this?

The problem continues to get worse. CalTrans spent $29.2 million cleaning up encampments since fiscal 2012-13. CalTrans estimates the bill in 2016-17 to be more than $10 million – a 34 percent increase over the previous year – and involved all 12 regional districts.

#GavinNewsom’s double-talk on #singlepayer

Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who’s faced criticism in the California governor’s race over his stance on single-payer health care, says he backs the bill that stalled in the state Legislature last year — but not in its current form.

Huh?

“I would not accept as-is 562,” Newsom said of Senate Bill 562 in a recent interview with Capital Public Radio. “But I accept its principles of moving in a completely new direction as it relates to addressing the crisis that is health care.”

This is just a bunch of political double-talk. It’s pretty clear he opposes single-payer healthcare.

The measure passed the California Senate last year but was held in the Assembly, where Speaker Anthony Rendon called it “woefully incomplete” because it did not lay out a funding source for its estimated $400 billion cost.

Newsom is being squishy because the bill is controversial. Many of his well-heeled supporters don’t like single-payer.

Capital Public Radio points out that as mayor, Newsom signed an ordinance creating Healthy San Francisco, a program that provided universal health care access to city residents. It made San Francisco the only city in the nation to offer such a program, although it’s not single-payer, and as PolitiFact California had to make clear.

When it comes to single-payer, Gavin Newsom has no trouble talking the talk, but he’s way short on walking the walk.

Gavin Newsom: Busted!

According to PolitiFact, in 2016, Newsom led the passage of Proposition 63, the voter-approved measure imposed background checks on ammunition purchases and required a state license to sell ammunition, among other provisions. Gun rights groups opposed it.

PolitiFact asked if that effort qualify Newsom as “the first to take on the National Rifle Association and win”? That’s one of the claims in a new TV ad that aired statewide this week and was paid for by Newsom’s campaign.

It turns out the ad is just a lie.

PolitiFact goes on to cite columnist Dan Morain who summarized efforts by other Californians who pushed for gun safety measures — decades before Newsom.

As noted by Morain, Newsom was “hardly the first California big city politician to take on the NRA.”.

Sherry Bebitch Jeffee, professor of public policy at USC, added the claim about Newsom being “first,” doesn’t hold up to the facts.

“California’s been at the forefront of the gun control movement for a very long time,” Jeffee said.

So basically Newsom is doing what rich white elites from the Bay Area do…lie to people. We’re not surprised. Thank you PolitiFact.

 

After being outed for sex crimes, #TomBrokaw freaks out, attacks accuser

Tom Brokaw, the longtime NBC News anchor, slammed a woman who accused him of sex crimes in an angry email rant.

His former colleague has accused him of groping and harassing her.

Brokaw angrily rejected the claims of the woman, Linda Vester, a former correspondent at NBC News and Fox News. “I was ambushed and then perp walked across the pages of The Washington Post and Variety,” Mr. Brokaw wrote, referring to the news organizations that on Thursday night published Ms. Vester’s account.

Boo hoo hoo. It sounds more like he got what he deserved.

He added, of his accuser, “Hard to believe it wasn’t much more Look At Me than Me:Too.”

What a jerk.

In the news reports, Ms. Vester described Mr. Brokaw tickling her in a conference room, asking her to drinks and, on two occasions in New York and London, inviting himself to her hotel room. There, she said, he grabbed her and tried to force her to kiss him.

She said that the encounters had left her feeling humiliated and isolated, and that she had been scared to report Mr. Brokaw’s behavior, fearful it could wreck her career.

No kidding.

At the time, Ms. Vester was among the youngest correspondents at NBC News, and Mr. Brokaw, who has been married since 1962, was the most powerful figure in the news division.

A lawyer for Ms. Vester, Ari Wilkenfeld, told the New York Times that she “stands by the allegations, which speak for themselves.”

Amazingly, several NBC stars — including Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell and Stephanie Ruhle — signed a public letter on Friday vouching for him as “a man of tremendous decency and integrity.”

The letter supporting Mr. Brokaw was organized by a former producer, Elizabeth Bowyer, and signed by more than 60 of Mr. Brokaw’s former and current female colleagues.

No doubt many women at NBC still fear him.

The claims about Mr. Brokaw shook an NBC news division still reeling from the ouster in November of sex criminal Matt Lauer, the star “Today” show anchor, after numerous women at the network accused him of sexual harassment.

#Corrupt California Public Utilities Commission nails feckless #Uber

The corrupt California Public Utilities Commission has voted to classify Uber partially as a charter party carrier, a designation usually used for towncars or limousines. The ruling is based on Uber’s extensive use of Uber SUV and Uber Black services.

Uber Black is an option in Uber’s app that lets riders hail towncars that the company’s website calls “high-end rides.”

Yup, they’re limos. Sorry Uber. Nice try.

The new classification, according to the San Francisco Examiner, will also require Uber to pay fees to the CPUC going back three years.

The new designation will make Uber known legally in California as both a charter party carrier and a transportation network company.

In their ruling, the CPUC declared that problems arising from Uber’s corporate structure were of “Uber’s own design.”

#SiliconValley foundation scandal includes sex crimes

The investigation continues into a workplace culture apparently tolerated bullying and sex crimes.

More of the same from “do as we say, not as we do” Silicon Valley.

Emmett Carson, who has led the organization since 2007, was put on ice “until further notice.” He’ll be replaced on an interim basis by a former board member, Greg Avis.

Employees apparently have had enough. Two outside law firms have been tasked with  conducting an investigation.

Major donors have had enough too. It’s pretty clear the money is drying up.

Carson is taking the heat because Mari Ellen Loijens, a top executive at the foundation, pretty much brutalized them and posioned the workplace.

Psycho meth user breaks into governor’s mansion

Screenshot 2018-04-28 at 06.54.04.pngThe Sacramento Bee reports that 51-year-old homeless man Steven Seeley was arrested for trespassing “on the executive residence property, breaking a side window on the first floor of the residence” at the governor’s mansion in Sacramento.

The CHP offered no explanation as to why this happend.  Officers could not answer basic questions about how Seeley entered and exited the home or where and when he was arrested.

Brown’s press office declined to comment.

Seeley, in an interview from the Sacramento County Jail on Thursday, said he entered the residence without interference.

Great job CHP.

The homeless psycho told police he saw wild animals, possibly lions or cougars, on the streets of midtown Sacramento and walked in through the front door of the home to alert Brown’s security detail because he knew they had “big guns.” He said he wanted to prevent the governor from being attacked.

Seeley maintains he’s never been diagnosed with a mental disorder and described himself as an almost daily methamphetamine user for most of his adult life.

“I was looking for the security staff, but I didn’t see anybody,” Seeley said Thursday. “I thought the governor was in trouble, I thought he was in danger of being attacked by the wild animals, so I walked in. I yelled ‘Jerry.'”

Yup. He’s crazy all right. A real whack-job.

After walking in, Seeley said he looked around and didn’t see anyone, but he heard muffled roaring and hid in a small room or closet. The room had a window, so he jumped out, into a fenced-in yard, breaking the window in the process, he said.

This is frightening. Seeley is a repeat offender who is walking the streets of Sacramento freely. Making matters worse for the community, all of this happened despite the fact that, according to the CHP, there is “a robust onsite security presence at the residence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

The only thing robust in Sacramento is the growing homeless population that is engulfng the city.

Gas tax repeal won’t save the failed #CaGOP

Screenshot 2018-04-26 at 08.04.54The sophomoric GOP theory goes something like this: Put an initiative to repeal the gas tax on the ballot and Republicans will flock to the polls to support it. While they’re there, they’ll vote for all the Republicans down the ticket, thus saving many of the floundering Republican California congressional candidates.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Republicans are on the verge of turning in at least 830,000 signatures for an initiative to repeal the tax increase.  The party’s struggling candidates up and down the state already are acting to direct voter anger over higher fuel prices at Democrats who boosted the levies.

“Everybody on the Republican side, at least all my clients, are definitely making this an issue,” said David Gilliard, a political consultant in Sacramento. “It’s generating a lot of support in their districts, because people are angry about this gas tax and the price of gasoline in California.”

Democrats aren’t worried. In the end, the anti-gas tax strategy really only plays well in the few conservative regions left in California.

John Vigna, a spokesman for the California Democratic Party got it right. “Republicans are deluding themselves if they think this is a silver bullet that will save them.”

GOP dinosaurs like Gilliard have run all the normal thinking people out of their party. All that’s left are the bigots, kooks and anti-government extremists. It won’t be long before those few that remain in the California Republican Party become extinct.

Nice try California Republicans. We realize this is the best you can do, but in the end, you’ll fail…again.

Poll: #Newsom, #Villaraigosa continue to shove the hapless #CaGOP aside

As expected, the race to be the next governor of California is heating up. The two expected front-runners are way ahead of the California’s Republican Party’s last hope for relevance.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a poll of 520 likely primary voters released by SurveyUSA and sponsored by KABC-TV Los Angeles, KFSN-TV Fresno, KGTV-TV San Diego, KPIX-TV San Francisco and the San Diego Union-Tribune found that Gavin Newsom, Antonio Villaraigosa and John Cox are all within 6 percentage points of one another.

Newsom led the field with 21 percent of the vote, but was followed closely by fellow Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa with 18 percent. Republican John Cox came in third with 15 percent. Right-wing extremist Republican Travis Allen trails with 10 percent and Democrat John Chiang at 9 percent.

Let’s be honest here. Cox would not be in the running if it wasn’t for his ability to write big personal checks to his campaign.

In the end, California’s election law means the  top two finishers in the June 5 primary will go on to face each other in the November general election, regardless of political party.

Adios California Republican Party.

“I couldn’t believe that I had been raped and the police didn’t even care”

Sex crime survivors in San Francisco say police, prosecutors and hospitals have failed them.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, the accusations ranged from police not thoroughly conducting interviews and gathering video evidence to hospital staff improperly collecting a urine sample.

“These are not just a few isolated incidents,” said Supervisor Hillary Ronen. “There is a pattern of negligence and mistreatment that I consider abusive towards rape victims. These are city employees who are blaming the victims for their own assaults, disregarding the severity of these rapes.”

No surprises here. Except perhaps’s Ronen’s self-righteous indignation.

Everyone knows San Francisco leaders could care less about crime victims. Just ask the Steinle family or the families of the countless people of color who have been exterminated by the San Francisco Police Department.

A Human Rights Commission employee who identified herself as Jane Doe, said a man drugged and raped her at a bar in January 2016. She said the police investigator on her case took his time processing toxicology results and did not seek out key witnesses.

“This is not hyperbole, SFPD makes a mockery of rape investigations and rape victims,” the woman said. “I couldn’t believe that I had been raped and the police didn’t even care. It is demoralizing and maddening, every day I suffer with severe depression and anxiety.”

That’s how the Police State rolls.

A reefer bank may be coming to your town

It’s inevitable. Marijuana businesses, which are legal in California, should be allowed to deposit money in banks like everyone else.

Finally, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, a second state Senate committee has approved a bill that would make it easier for California cannabis businesses to write checks — instead of using hoards of cash, as is common practice now — to pay taxes, rent and fees to vendors.

The bill, introduced by (serial groper) state Sen. Robert Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, would allow the creation of a special class of state-chartered banks and credit unions, regulated by the Department of Business Oversight, that could process deposits, withdrawals and other financial transactions by licensed cannabis merchants.

Proponents of the proposed legislation say it would help cannabis shops, which largely operate on a cash-only basis, by reducing the large amounts of cash they have to store and transport at any given time.

It also keeps the industry accountable. Cash-only businesses are havens for tax evaders.

No surprise: Golden State Killer was a cop

Authorities have arrested a police officer who is suspected of being one of California’s most prolific serial killers and rapists — the Golden State Killer.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, a local and federal task force apprehended the suspect late Tuesday evening.

In the 40 years since the Original Night Stalker began his campaign of terror in Sacramento and moved south through Oakland, Santa Barbara and Orange counties, he had remained unidentified.

The attacker was also dubbed the East Area rapist and the Golden State Killer, and authorities say he is responsible for 12 killings, 45 rapes and more than 120 residential burglaries between 1976 and 1986.

Finally, Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., a 72-year-old resident of Citrus Heights, northeast of Sacramento, has been arrested.

Not surprisingly, the suspect was a police officer in Auburn during the 1970s, but fired after he was accused of shoplifting. He is suspected of committing other crimes while he was still on the force.

His crimes were hideous…another in the long line of California killer cops.

#Lodi City Attorney praises #killercops for executing #mentallyill #GulfWar #veteran

Taxpayers in Lodi will get to pick up the tab for the brutal Police State execution of a mentally ill Gulf War veteran.

The Stockton Record reports that the family of  Parminder Shergill will receive $2.65 million from the city.

Amazingly, after the huge payout, feckless City Attorney Janice D. Madich said officers acted professionally and consistent with their training whey they responded to a 911 call made by the Shergill family for help.

So just to be clear, Shergill’s family called for help, the Lodi police responded, and executed their son. Madich thinks that’s OK.

The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office found that Shergill was shot 14 times.

As predicted, Fresno State president Joseph Castro announced that hideous, racist, professor Randa Jarrar won’t be fired.

According to the Fresno Bee, Castro wrote in a statement that while her conduct was “insensitive, inappropriate and an embarrassment to the university,” it won’t result in her firing.

“This issue has raised many important questions about the scope of free speech,” Castro said, “and the extent to which a member of our university community can be held accountable for expressing his or her personal views.”

No, President Castro, it really hasn’t. It’s just laid bare the racism that is endemic in your leadership, your faculty and your staff.

Not surprisingly, according to the university, it was determined Jarrar didn’t violate any California State University or Fresno State policies, Castro said.

#GavinNewsom’s redemption story: It’s all just a lie

According to a Sacramento Bee exclusive,  in 2007, Gavin Newsom said he quit drinking and would seek professional help for “problems with alcohol.”

Though he didn’t say explicitly at the time that he went to rehab, it was widely interpreted that he did.

Well, he didn’t.

Uncorrected media accounts over the past decade report that he entered a rehab program, and spokespeople at the time sought to explain to the public Newsom’s drinking.

Newsom, now 50, confessed to the Bee that never went to rehab and he still drinks.

It appears pretty obvious that the drinking problem issue was just a scam used as an excuse to shield Newsom from fallout from an affair he had with the wife of his campaign manager and best friend, Alex Tourk.

The woman, who is now remarried and goes by Ruby Rippey-Gibney, was a subordinate of Newsom’s and worked in City Hall as his appointments secretary. So besides being a scoundral, it’s pretty clear Newsom broke several workplace sex crime laws.

Newsom’s affair, and the “excessive drinking”, have become part of his redemption story.

It’s all just a lie.

 

California Medical Association continues to protect crooked doctors

California would become the first state in the country to require doctors on probationary licenses to notify patients about their status under a legislative proposal introduced by Sen. Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo.

The brutal and self-serving California Medical Association killed his bill on patient disclosure two years in a row. Now the measure is back in the state Senate and once again targeted by the association.

“Currently doctors have to notify their insurer, their hospital or clinic about their probation status, but patients receive no notice,” Hill said. “They are left in the dark and susceptible to future abuse.”

The Medical Board of California currently offers a search function for information about a physician’s license, disciplinary status, complaints the board found evidence to support and links to documents related to any sanctions.

The Sacramento Bee reports that SB 1448 would offer a new level of transparency at the doctor’s office and require physicians to ask patients to sign a form that discloses the length and end date of their probation, any restrictions placed on their ability to practice, contact information for their licensing board and information on how to access additional details about the disciplinary action.

The bill applies to physicians, surgeons and practitioners licensed by the Medical Board of California, California Podiatric Medicine, Osteopathic Medical Board of California, Naturopathic Medicine Committee, Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the California Acupuncture Board.

Doctors accused of wrongdoing, such as overprescribing addictive prescriptions or fondling patients, can agree to settlements with the medical board and accept probation. The probation period often comes with other requirements, ranging from counseling to ethics courses depending on the offense, and restrictions on their ability to practice.

The feckless California Medical Association argues that the proposed law would cause patients to seek another provider. No kidding. Who wants a quack crook doctor treating them?

The association said the notice will discourage doctors from settling claims and lead to more hearings, which would slow the disciplinary process and potentially allow doctors to continue practicing as their cases move forward.

Another lame excuse.

The California Medical Association serves but one purpose in Sacramento, to create laws that let doctors shake patients down for more and more money. The organization is nothing more than a criminal enterprise masquerading as a professional trade organization. Legislators should reject their opposition and pass Hill’s bill.

#Facebook continues to dominate the #FakeNews industry

On Amazon, customer comments can help a product surge in popularity. The online retail giant says that more than 99 percent of its reviews are legitimate because they are written by real shoppers who aren’t paid for them.

Yeah, right. Sure they are real customers.

According to the Mercury News, an examination found that for some popular product categories, such as bluetooth headphones and speakers, the vast majority of reviews appear to violate Amazon’s prohibition on paid reviews. They have certain characteristics, such as repetitive wording that people likely cut and paste in.

To the surprise of no one, many of these fraudulent reviews originate on Facebook, where sellers seek shoppers on dozens of networks, including Amazon Review Club and Amazon Reviewers Group, to give glowing feedback in exchange for money or other compensation.

The practice artificially inflates the ranking of thousands of products, experts say, misleading consumers.

Amazon banned paying for reviews a year and a half ago because of research it conducted showing that consumers distrust paid reviews.

That apparently didn’t stop Facebook.

Suspicious or fraudulent reviews are crowding out authentic ones in some categories, according to research using ReviewMeta data. ReviewMeta examines red flags, such as an unusually large number of reviews that spike over a short period of time or “sock puppet” reviewers who appear to have cut and paste stock language.

Incentivized reviewers give higher ratings than non-paid reviewers, according to ReviewMeta. The result is that consumers could unknowingly be purchasing poorer quality products.

Basically, the reviews are just a lie. Facebook and Amazon are just a lie.

 

#Barstow cops execute #AfricanAmerican man, white elites scurry to cover it up

The thug cops who gunned him down would not give him medical help. This is typical in a California police execution. You may recall the same thing happened in Sacramento to Stephon Clark.

Had Diante Yarber been given medical treatment, he would have had a chance at surviving his wounds, according to attorney S. Lee Merritt.

The autopsy was conducted by a private medical examiner at Merritt’s request.

An autopsy by San Bernardino County authorities has not been released and it’s unclear whether it’s been finished. The police obviously need more time to develop a cover story.

According to the Merced Sun-Star, Barstow police officers fatally shot Yarber on April 5 in a Walmart parking lot.

Police Chief Albert Ramirez Jr. released a statement Monday night that said Yarber was wanted for car theft after he jumped out of a stolen car last month and ran away.

So apparently being wanted for car theft in Barstow is a capitol offense punishable by summary execution without trial…especially if you happen to be African-American.

Enjoy your Police State.

Don’t expect Sacramento to do much to stop elite government sex criminals

 

In late 2017, Marybel Batjer, the secretary of the Government Operations Agency started to pay lip service to the #MeToo movement.

The movement had gotten big enough to threaten Batjer’s patrons in the Governor’s office and in the California Legislature.

Batjer told the Sacramento Bee it became obvious that “we need to pick up the hood and take a look inside.” Code words that really meant that government leaders had to double-down on their cover-up of the rampant sex crimes that have plagued Sacramento for decades.

It worked.

Gov. Jerry Brown’s cabinet secretary, Keely Martin Bosler, directed state agencies and departments to revise their approaches to harassment and discrimination cases. In other words, shuffle some papers and make it look like you’re doing something.

There’s lots of eyewash too. According to the Bee, the state will begin providing mandatory, three-day sensitivity training sessions for managers and supervisors. The state also will develop a system to track harassment and discrimination complaints across departments — no doubt making it easier for bigwigs like Batjer to supervise the cover-ups.

 

 

One needs only look at the feckless UC system to understand the lengths California will go to protect the powerful elites in government.

In the end, Batjer’s work serves but one purpose…protect the powerful elites in Sacramento. To think any of this is designed to help the victims of sex crimes is ludicrous.

California is fast becoming a #homeless gulag

The state, and its biggest city, have become a gulag for the homeless.

California has approximately 134,000 homeless people, about 24 percent of the nation’s total homeless population, and Los Angeles County has the most within the state, according to the state auditor.

Capitol Public Radio reports that with more than two-thirds of its homeless people living in vehicles, abandoned buildings, parks or on streets, California has the highest rate of unsheltered homeless.

The unsheltered population also has an increased risk of exposure to communicable diseases, the audit said, noting that four California counties had the largest person-to-person hepatitis A outbreak in the U.S. since a vaccine to prevent the illness became available in 1966.

#Racist Sacramento elites continue to allow the police to execute #AfricanAmerican men

According to Capitol Public Radio, the Sacramento County District Attorney has been flooded with 100,000 signatures from an online campaign to have officers in the Stephon Clark shooting prosecuted.

It’s hard to believe that District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert’s office will be impressed.

The signatures were gathered online by the racial justice organization Color of Change. Clarise McCants, a campaign director with the group, flew out from Washington, D.C., to deliver the petitions.

“Days after Stephon Clark was murdered, we launched a petition calling on the district attorney to indict the officers,” McCants said.

Clark was brutally executed by two Sacramento police officers.

“We’ll read them all,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Grippi. “We hear what’s being said. We’re not tone deaf to it. But, ultimately, we’re gonna follow the law and the facts and make sure due process is being served, for everyone.”

What Grippi really means is that the racist DA’s office is going to let the killer cops walk. After all it was Schubert who let the cops who brutally murdered Joseph Mann go free.

According to their AstroTurf group CALInnovates, and reported in the Mercury News, the Cambridge Analytica scandal, in which the company used data from 87 million Facebook users in an effort to deviously manipulate voters, was broken promises.

Here’s some breaking news for CALInnovates: Everything you do is a broken promise.

According to CALInnovates, Facebook is a victim, not an accomplice. A victim that has made billions in profit.

So now, feckless CALInnovates and their corporate masters pulling the strings in Silicon Valley, want you to be skeptical of a ballot measure that appears headed for the November ballot.

In reality, the “Consumer Right to Privacy Act,” would improve the lives of Californians by holding Silicon Valley’s unscrupulous companies accountable.

CALInnovates is nothing more than a scam designed to perpetuate Silicon Valley’s lies and fill corporate coffers.

 

Police knew psycho killer was on the prowl…did nothing

A homeless psycho killer who randomly stabbed a patron in a crowded Ventura restaurant to death as his 5-year-old daughter sat on his lap was reported hours earlier for disruptive behavior.

The rocket-scientist cops however decided he was not a threat.

Soon after that, Jamal Jackson ruthlessly murdered Anthony Mele. By the way, Jackson is a convicted felon.

Mr. Mele and his wife were eating dinner with their daughter. The girl was sitting on her father’s lap when Jackson walked up and stabbed Mele in the neck.

The two men had not interacted before the attack.

Police confirmed that a bystander reported a man — who turned out to be Jackson — for disruptive behavior several hours before the stabbing.

Command center staff monitored the man via a pier security camera system for more than 20 minutes before deciding he didn’t seem to be a threat.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jackson also had half a dozen contacts with police in Ventura since the beginning of the year, including an arrest after a physical fight at a park.

He was also stopped on March 31 after a passerby reported he was brandishing a knife.

Police searched his bag and found a knife but no charges were filed.

Jackson has a lengthy rap sheet including charges in San Bernardino County, as well as convictions for burglary and unlawful sexual intercourse dating back to the 1990s.

Cooley kills bill to report Legislature’s sex criminals

It’s another sad day for sex crime victims in the California Legisalture.

Last October, after accusations of a “pervasive” culture of sexual misconduct in politics blazed through Sacramento, the question was whether the California Legislature would disclose records pertaining to abuse investigations.

Well, they did…sort of.

However as the Los Angeles Times reports, six months later, the question is whether lawmakers will continue to rely on an ad-hoc process that can be canceled anytime they want. Legislation to ensure access to sexual harassment records has sat in limbo in the state Assembly since January.

It now looks as though that bill will miss a key deadline and effectively be killed without ever being heard in public.

“We need to change the statute,” said Assemblyman Mark Stone (D-Scotts Valley). The proposal in question, Assembly Bill 2032, was written by the committee he chairs. But Stone can’t push the bill forward without action first by the Assembly Rules Committee.

AB 2032 would modify the state’s Legislative Open Records Act, a 43-year-old statute giving lawmakers unique power to shield their internal documents. It would guarantee public access to documents related to “complaints of harassment, discrimination or other misconduct” by a lawmaker or high-level staff member — but only for complaints judged “true” or “well-founded.”

This was supposed to be the deal Assembly and Senate leaders agreed to in early January.

That was then, and this is now. The chairman of the Assembly Rules Committee said he won’t move the bill forward.

Assemblyman Ken Cooley (D-Rancho Cordova) came up with the lame excuse that he wants members of a special sexual harassment subcommittee formed last year to lead the conversation instead. “They have to be allowed to do their work,” Cooley said in an interview.

They had plenty of time to do that. Cooley is simply lying and covering up for sex criminals that still troll the Legislature.

San Francisco developer, environmental clean-up company, lied about nuke waste

That according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

The shipyard, home to the Naval Radiological Defense Laboratory from 1946 to 1969, is now the site of the San Francisco Shipyard development project, regarded as perhaps the most important development site in the city. It is to contain more than 10,500 housing units, 300 acres of open space, millions of square feet of retail, schools, a hotel and artists studios.

So sweeping this kind of thing under the rug is paramount for the Leftists in San Francisco, who when given the choice, pick money over the environment and public safety….every time.

Before developer FivePoint starting building condominiums in 2013, former shipyard employees say that Tetra Tech, the company that was paid between $350 million and $450 million to lead the cleanup of the site, relaxed the standards for what was allowed to leave the property starting in 2011. The portal monitors — radiation detection scanners used to prevent trucks containing dangerous materials from exiting — were reset to be less sensitive. An area with scaffolding that allowed inspectors to get on top of the trucks to inspect shipments was taken down.

A recent review by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state agencies found that as much as 97 percent of Tetra Tech’s cleanup data for two parcels at the shipyard was found to be suspect and should be retested.

No one believes #Facebook is honest…users crying out for government regulation

No one believes Facebook is honest.

According to the Mercury News, the most recent research survey from the Ponemon Institute — a Michigan-based research group which surveys Americans’ opinions on privacy, data protection and information security policy — found that only 27 percent of Americans now believe Facebook is committed to protecting the privacy of their personal information.

The 27 percent figure was 52 percentage points lower than the same survey in 2017.

Wow!

“We found that people care deeply about their privacy and when there is a mega data breach, as in the case of Facebook, people will express their concern,” said the institute’s chairman Larry Ponemon to NBC News. “And some people will actually vote with their feet and leave.”

Apparently Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony before Congress did nothing to help. We’re not surprised. To think that Zukerberg cares about anything other than money is an absurd position to take. According to the Ponemon Institute, American’s obviously aren’t all that absurd.

The bad news, survey respondents want more transparency and protections surrounding their Facebook user data. It’s bad news because that would take Congressional action. Which even fewer people have confidence in.

Berkeley coffee shop, with a history of racism, forced to close

It’s now closed.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the business was brought back into the national spotlight because of its history of blatant racism targeting African-Americans.

Normal people understand (but apparently not the journalists at the Chronicle) that the abrupt closure is the result of a recent wave of negative reviews after parallels were drawn between this month’s controversial arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia Starbucks and a similar 2015 incident at Elmwood Cafe involving Bay Area personality W. Kamau Bell.

You see, the Elmwood Cafe is the scene of a racist incident dating back to 2015 when Mr. Bell, who is black, said he was kicked out of the Elmwood after an employee claimed he was bothering a group of white women. Mr. Bell’s wife was among the group.

Back then, the Elmwood maintained that their employees would go through sensitivity training. According to Mr. Bell however, “the Elmwood Cafe definitely went back to business as usual.”

No kidding. The white elites in Berkeley wouldn’t have it any other way.

#Sacramento #elites line up to save killer cops who murdered #StephonClark

The Sacramento Bee is suggesting that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra needs to be the one who determines whether Sacramento police officers broke the law when they shot and killed Stephon Clark last month.

That’s a laugh. Becerra is a major player in the cadre of politicians who run California’s brutal Police State.

Like Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, Becerra is too compromised and too mistrusted to have the last word on whether Clark’s killing was a crime.

State and federal case laws give cops wide latitude to kill citizens. Becerra is all for that, always has been and always will be. It’s how he’s solidified his political power. Becerra will never be an advocate for people of color.

As a result, the thugs who killed Clark won’t face criminal prosecution.

The Bee’s suggestion that Becerra will somehow make a difference, make things right for people of color in Sacramento, is simply fraud. It’s really just a political head-fake to suggest that by dumping Schubert for Becerra somehow justice will be restored.

It won’t be. The white elite racists who run Sacramento will make sure of that.

 

Sacramento Mayor #DarrellSteinberg thinks #AfricanAmericans are mental cases

Stacy Dossman stood at a podium in front of the Sacramento City Council and, her voice quivering, testified about her experience of raising an 18-year-old African American son.

She did not know Stephon Clark, but she said she loved him nonetheless as the mother of a young black man. She said she was traumatized by Clark’s shooting, which had forced her to tell her son to lower the hood on his sweatshirt when he drives and to “just drop” to the ground if he’s confronted by police.

“I’m angry and I’m hurt,” Dossman told the City Council. “I’ve been reliving what I saw on that tape (showing Clark’s shooting) over and over and over again.”

Emotions have been high in Meadowview and at Sacramento City Council meetings since police officers shot and killed Clark in his grandparents’ backyard March 18. Many people have expressed anger. But the shooting has also renewed feelings of suffering and anguish among the city’s African American population.

So according to the Bee, Mayor Darrell Steinberg  is bringing in mental health professionals to treat traumatized Meadowview residents and residents of other neighborhoods of color brutalized by the police.

He’s not doing anything to stop the police from terrorizing African-American neighborhoods and slaughtering young African-American men.

The Bee went on to quote Steinberg:

“What I have been seeing and experiencing at our City Council meetings and out in the community is raw pain and trauma,” Steinberg said. “But what’s important to recognize is that while the Stephon Clark shooting has been a catalyst for elevating this conversation, it’s not a new issue. Especially in low-income communities, exposure to violence, systemic poverty, domestic violence, these issues have profound impacts on people, especially kids.

“In Sacramento, we are experiencing this in a heightened way over the last month.”

Steinberg said nothing about police terrorism in his town. Why not? It’s simple, he’s totally OK with it. White elites who run Sacramento like a southern plantation are never going to allow African-Americans, Latinos, or Asians to live in equality here.

It’s frightening to suggest that the issue is mental health. It’s racist to suggest the problem is mental health. The problem is racism. Steinberg’s racism. And the racism of the rest of white elite Sacramento.

People in Meadowview aren’t mental cases…they’re under siege and fear for their lives. Who can blame them.

According to the Mercury News, the First Congregational Church of Oakland shares a neighborhood with many homeless people, and they often come to the church in times of mental health crises.

Sometimes church members feel unequipped to deal with the erratic behavior: the most heart-wrenching scenes, volunteer leader Nichola Torbett says, are the times when the church is closing for the day, and a person with nowhere else to go absolutely refuses to leave the building.

At least once or twice a month, at their wits’ end, the church members call 911.

That’s not how it’s done in the Police State any longer.  Police brutality and unrelenting racism has forced the church, and a small handful of like-minded congregations, to stop calling the police.

In fact, they don’t call the police for ANYTHING!

Not for mental health crises, not for graffiti on their buildings, not even for acts of violence.

These churches correctly understand the American police system is so racist and brutal that they should wash their hands of it entirely.

The churches call their drastic approach “divesting” from policing. And they say that one headline after another, about policing around the country, shows that it’s necessary.

The churches that commit to ending their use of police resources are training members in alternate responses to danger.

Torbett said at First Congregational, church leaders have invited experts from several nonprofits to train members on de-escalating mental health crises, and on self-defense in the case of a violent person at the church. “Our goal is to never call the police,” she said.

No need to explain. Wanting to stay alive in the Police State is a powerful incentive.

#SiliconValley continues to ignore sex crimes

Sex crimes continue to be rampant in Silicon Valley.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, a major fundraising force in the heart of the tech world, has been jolted by allegations of workplace misconduct.

Pardon us, but we’re not at all surprised. It’s how the “do as we say, not as we do” crowd in the Bay Area rolls.

It turns out that former employees have alleged inappropriate behavior by the Mountain View foundation’s top fundraiser, Mari Ellen Loijens.

According the story, Loijens had worked there for more than a decade. Media reports indicate she demeaned and bullied her staff, made lewd comments in the workplace, and on at least one occasion sought to kiss a woman working for her.

“It was not uncommon to hear Mari Ellen suddenly screaming at the top of her lungs, berating one of my colleagues about how stupid they were,” Jennifer Wood, a former director of individual giving for the foundation told reporters.

The foundation is loaded with cash, billions. So don’t expect much to come from these charges. As long as Loijens brings in the money, Silicon Valley elites will look the other way and allow her rampage to continue.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, reported nearly $1.3 million in adjusted gross income in 2016, according to tax returns provided by his campaign.

Not bad work for a job that requires no work.

More than $900,000 of the couple’s $1.29 million income came from businesses in which Newsom and his wife hold an ownership stake. The couple’s largest source of income outside of their salaries was from their ownership stake in Airelle Wines ($787,751), which runs Napa wineries.

How convenient.

The couple reported $428,661 in wages. That included money from Newsom’s job as lieutenant governor, Siebel Newsom’s $150,000 salary at the Representation Project social justice nonprofit she leads, and $154,385 from the Girls Club Entertainment production company she runs.

The couple’s 2016 income was similar to what they have reported in previous years.

From 2010 to 2015, they averaged $1.4 million in income and $102,212 in charitable contributions annually, according to returns that Newsom and his wife have previously released.

Newsom’s primary rival, Antonio Villaraigosa, has criticized Newsom for becoming wealthy while serving full time in elective office for nearly two decades.

Antonio would be correct.

This should set of alarm bells. According to the Fresno Bee, in the aftermath of Randa Jarrar’s controversial tweets about Barbara Bush, people are asking whether Fresno State can fire the professor for her comments.

Seriously? People have to ask?

Jarrar has no trouble rubbing her racism in people’s faces. as her recent tweet about her tenure and salary would indicate: “Sweetie I work as a tenured professor. I make 100k a year doing that. I will never be fired.”

We have learned that several lawyers are maneuvering to save her job and protect her and her racist rants.

It’s important to note that the Police State protects public university professors. They have more protection than other public employees to speak as part of their job duties.

Starbucks should be hiring them to work as baristas maybe?

It didn’t take long for the brutally racist Sacramento Police Department to exact their revenge on Stevante Clark.

According to KCRA News, the brother of Stephon Clark, who was brutally executed by Sacramento police, has been arrested on a felony threat charge, according to Sacramento County Jail records.

“Threat charge?” Seriously?

Mr. Clark, 25, is now in the Sacramento County Jail on a felony charge of threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury, felony assault, felony vandalism and abusing the 911 emergency line, police said.

Furthermore, the Sacramento Police Department has requested no bail for Clark, citing the seriousness of his crime and public protection, jail records show.

The police have not released details of what led up to Clark’s arrest. So let us enlighten you. Mr. Clark was arrested because he dared to stand up the the brutal racist Sacramento Police Department and the racist white elites who run the city.

Clark’s arrest comes on the same day Black Lives Matter protesters marched through downtown Sacramento to deliver 100,000 signed petitions demanding the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office file charges against the officers who killed Stephon Clark.

The brutal white D.A. ignored them and the two officers have returned to work and are free to kill again.

Sacramento is, and has always been, a community run by a small clique of racist white elites.  It operates no different than cities the Jim Crow South. That will never change until forces outside the city intervene. It’s time.

Sacramento’s white D.A. maneuvers to let killer cops off the hook

The white elites who run Sacramento are used to police officers gunning down people of color. So when the Sacramento Bee reported that Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert was “under fire” because of the execution of Stephon Clark, we could only offer a sarcastic sneer at the D.A.’s hypocrisy.

Schubert’s excuse for ignoring the Police State execution is that her office has not yet received the police investigation of the case and that it could take many months before her own investigation is complete.

Many months means the furor in the African-American community will fade away and the killer cops will get the nod from Schubert and Mayor Darrell Steinberg to go back on the streets.

“The reality is, is that what happened to Stephon Clark is a tragedy,” Schubert said in a news conference during which she outlined the steps she takes in investigating officer-involved shootings and noted she is not legally required to conduct such reviews.

This translates into more hand-wringing by the white elites. They have no intention of disciplining the killer cops or reigning in the Sacramento Police Department.

Despite that, street protests have continued for weeks in downtown Sacramento, and Schubert’s office at Ninth and G streets has been the target of regular demonstrations by activists asking that she charge the two officers who shot Clark.

Schubert’s office has never found evidence that led her to prosecute an officer in a shooting.

It’s a pretty safe bet that charges against the thugs who murdered Stephon Clark will never come.

California fires, then rehires brutal sex criminals

According to the Sacramento Bee, the sexual harassment lawsuit involving the Medical Board of California and five senior managers fills 11 volumes, its overstuffed red folders wedged into a cardboard box and stored in a warehouse.

It took five years to settle. It cost the taxpayers millions.

However, as the Bee puts it, despite the lawsuit’s startling allegations – which described a workplace filled with after-hours trysts, favoritism, offensive comments and racial discrimination – the central defendant in the case continued to prosper in state government.

That’s how we roll in California.

Jerry Smith, formerly the medical board’s supervising investigator, was granted a medical retirement in 2003, then returned in 2007 as a retired annuitant, collecting more pay. He left the Contractors State License Board in August 2017, according to the Controller’s Office.

Making matters worse, a sworn peace officer, Smith also petitioned the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board in 2002, arguing he deserved additional benefits because he had been subjected to a hostile work environment due to all the internal investigations into his conduct.

Smith is nothing more than a feckless animal. He’s also not alone.

#FresnoState probably won’t fire bigot professor

Fresno State’s Barbara Bush hating bigot professor is today’s hottest story.

According to university   president Joseph Castro, all options are on the table in dealing with the Fresno State professor and psycho bigot Randa Jarrar, who called Barbara Bush “an amazing racist” shortly after the former first lady died.

Castro told the Fresno Bee, “a professor with tenure does not have blanket protection to say and do what they wish,” he said. “We are all held accountable for our actions.”

Like a sheep though, Castro declined to comment specifically on how the university may handle Randa Jarrar’s case, citing personnel matters.

That pretty much means she’s going to get away with it.

The backlash on Twitter was immense, thousands of comments poured in to condemn Jarrar for what she had said.

Jarrar was forced to make her social media accounts private.

After all that you’d think firing this psycho bigot would be easy. Don’t count on it. For starters, many on the extreme Left in California agree with Jarrar. They might not say it publicly but you can be sure there are operating behind the scenes to protect her.

Furthermore, teachers in California, like killer cops, are pretty much immune from discipline. We doubt seriously that there will any official sanctions against Jarrar. As long as her bigotry and racism are directed at white people, Republicans and especially conservatives, she’ll be allowed to stay on the job.

#Starbucks #racism brings well deserved ridicule from online memes

CNBC and other news outlets are reporting the proliferation of fake Starbucks coupons that have begun circulating on social media in the wake of protests over the arrests of two black men who were kicked out of a Philadelphia Starbucks because they didn’t buy coffee fast enough.

The coupons, which feature images of Starbucks beverages, the brand’s iconic color green and bar codes, appear to offer “people of color” or “African-American heritage” free drinks.

“This is completely false and in no way associated with Starbucks,” a Starbucks spokeswoman told CNBC.

The coffee giant has been under fire since a video of the two black men being arrested at a Starbucks in Philadelphia went viral over the weekend. The woman who posted the video said that staff at the coffee shop had called police because the two men had not ordered anything while they waited for a friend to arrive.

National news outlets have reported that Starbucks will be closing all of its company-owned restaurants in the U.S. during the afternoon of May 29 to conduct a racial-bias education program.

Sharing a copy of the United States Declaration of Independence — paying particular attention the second paragraph which begins as follows: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness — would be a great way to start.

 

Desperate: Newspaper lies about #SeanHannity’s ties to President #Trump’s lawyer

The East Bay Times has reprinted a Washington Post article suggesting that radio talk show host Sean Hannity has committed some sort of crime because he is an acquaintance of President Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen.

Mr. Hannity is in fact not a client of Mr. Cohen. They are acquaintances. Readers should not that being friends with President Trump’s attorney is not against the law.

The Post story, which is parroted by the East Bay Times, goes on to equate Mr. Hannity with a fictional drug dealing crime boss. It’s a complete fabrication, a lie.

Readers should note that the parent company of the East Bay Times is liquidating the newspaper chain’s assets, including the East Bay Times. The paper is an utter failure as an economic entity. In a year it probably will cease to exist.

With reporting like this you can see why.

#BigOil profits set to soar as they deliver another punishing blow to California

Summer driving season is fast approaching, and Big Oil is wasting no time jacking up prices at the pump.

The Orange County Register reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County has risen to $3.606, its highest amount since Aug. 27, 2015.

The average price has increased seven of the past eight days, rising 2.8 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 2.7 cents more than one week ago, 11.6 cents higher than one month ago and 55.5 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 45.6 cents since the start of the year.

The oil industry operates in an environment controlled exclusively by the California Legislature. There is literally no competition in the marketplace. Thus price increases equate to billions in profits for the oil industry.

Fired racist, porn-dog, military hating teacher plans to appeal

About the only way to fire a teacher in California is if they turn out to be a racist, porn-dog military hating whack job.

 

The Mercury News reports that the workplace investigation into a fired El Rancho High history and government teacher uncovered nude images of women on his school computer, one of many inflammatory allegations made against Gregory Salcido.

Following Salcido’s now-infamous anti-military rant, the El Rancho Unified School District opened an investigation which ultimately led the school board to fire him.

Among the numerous allegations were that Salcido deleted several illicit photos from his work computer, that he used racial slurs when speaking to students and that he once told his class he would kill them all if it were required to protect his family.

In an interesting development, the psychopath Salcido plans to appeal his firing.

Non-citizen (free) healthcare bill moving through the California Legislature

Capitol Public Radio reports that a bill to expand health care coverage to undocumented adults has moved forward in the California state Assembly.

According to reporters, the bill is part of a push by Democratic lawmakers to create universal coverage, after a single-payer bill stalled last year.

Allowing undocumented adults onto Medi-Cal could get California a third of the way there.

The legislation would expand access to coverage to more than a million people. The legislative debate offered little insight into how to pay for all this new free healthcare.

The Assembly measure passed along party lines. The Senate Health Committee passed a similar measure last month.

Poll: Half of Californians support President #Trump’s ban on #Islamics

A stunned Mercury News reports that nearly half of Californians say they support President Trump’s Muslim travel ban and more deportations of undocumented immigrants.

This according to a survey  released by UC Berkeley’s Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society.

While Leftists in the country’s only sanctuary state value diversity and inclusion on all fronts — from economic and racial justice to immigration reform — not everyone agrees with them.

The Haas Institute’s Blueprint for Belonging project, which commissioned the survey hates President Trump and anyone who supports him. They told the Mercury News they found the results unsettling.

About 24 percent of the survey’s participants said it’s “very important” for the U.S. to increase deportations of undocumented immigrants, while 35 percent said it’s “somewhat important,” according to the poll. That viewpoint even held true in the Bay Area, where 25 percent of those surveyed said increasing deportations is very important and 35 percent said it’s somewhat important.

Oooops!

Even worse for the Leftists elites,  about 49 percent of Californians support temporarily banning people from Muslim-majority countries, according to the poll. In the Bay Area, 44 percent of residents support the ban, the least out of any region in California.

Jon Rodney, spokesman for the California Immigrant Policy Center in Oakland, an immigrant advocacy group told the Mercury News, “I think some of these outlier results may be looking more into the attitudes of certain areas where there needs to be more education.”

More education? Interesting.

The results come as a growing number of Southern California cities, including Escondido in San Diego County and Los Alamitos in Orange County, are rebelling against the state’s sanctuary policies.

 

#Privileged #elites to feel the backlash from #Starbucks #racism

Screenshot 2018-04-17 at 13.41.28The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Starbucks Corp. plans to close its more than 8,000 company-owned U.S. stores for several hours to conduct racial-bias training for their nearly 175,000 U.S. workers.

According to the report, the move is the coffee chain’s latest response to the controversial arrest of two African-American men at a Starbucks store in Philadelphia.

A clearly racist Starbucks employee asked two African-American men to leave because they wanted to wait for their friend to arrive before placing an order. White people do this all the time but somehow it’s a problem when African-Americans do it.

In order to mitigate the legal exposure, Starbucks said it will close its stores and Seattle corporate offices during the afternoon May 29 “to conduct racial-bias education geared toward preventing discrimination in our stores.”

The privileged elites, who frequent Starbucks stores around the nation, will feel the backlash from Starbucks’ racism. Normal people probably could care less, and continue to wonder why paying $6.50 for a cup of coffee is a good deal.

During the store closures, employees “will go through a training program designed to address implicit bias, promote conscious inclusion, prevent discrimination and ensure everyone inside a Starbucks store feels safe and welcome,” a Starbucks executive told the media.

The only people “safe and welcome” in Starbucks are the privileged elites. That’s not going to change anytime soon, no matter how many times Starbucks closes.

News reporters help spin the #PoliceState execution of #StephonClark

Screenshot 2018-04-17 at 07.54.00.pngAccording to the San Francisco Chronicle,  Los Angeles Times, and the Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Police Department has released more video imagery which lends credibility to the theory that the assault by officers was nothing more than a hunting expedition designed to kill Stephon Clark.AA

The facts is an unarmed Mr. Clark was mercilessly shot at 20 times by two police officers investigating reports of somebody breaking into cars.

No weapon was found at the scene…only a cellphone which apparently caused officers to “fear for their lives.”

Screenshot 2018-04-17 at 08.02.28After he was gunned down, brutal officers failed to deliver medical aid out of “concern” that he was still armed and playing dead. All the while Mr. Clark lay motionless in his grandmother’s backyard.

Video released Monday confirms officers waited about five minutes from the time Clark was shot before they approached his body. They then spent about one minute handcuffing and searching him before beginning to administer CPR.

Plenty of time for Mr. Clark to bleed out.

By the time fire department rescue workers were cleared by police to enter the scene — about a minute after CPR began — it appears that Clark already was dead. A fire department medic can be heard in another video of the same time frame saying, “We’re fixed and dilated here,” an apparent reference to Clark being nonresponsive.

The revelation that the police did nothing to help the dying Clark has ramped up the law enforcement spin cycle.

Police spokesman Sgt. Vance Chandler said the department would examine whether officers acted quickly enough with medical care. In the videos, police can be heard discussing whether it’s safe to approach Clark in the minutes before they administer aid.

“That’s part of our investigation, looking at when aid was rendered,” Chandler said. “We will look at if it was appropriate given the circumstances.”

Plumas County Deputy and police training expert Ed Obayashi said he believed the time taken before approaching Clark was reasonable under the circumstances. He said the possibility of other civilians in the area combined with officers’ inability to see both of Clark’s hands were risk factors.

Feckless reporters lapped up the Police State rhetoric in anticipation of seeing Sacramento’s killer cops get off the hook for the murder.

Reporters and their editors have so far failed to question any of the circumstances surrounding the killing. Rather they are packing their reports with excuses designed to let police officers roam in African-American communities killing at will.

It’s a brutal partnership between the media and killer cops.

 

 

Hate-based #racism is just about to finish off the #CaGOP

Odds are good there won’t be a Republican in this fall’s race for governor of California.

It’s a final and fitting repudiation for the hate-based, race-based strategy GOP leaders have been wedded to for decades.

According to the Sacramento Bee, the “distinct possibility has unnerved party officials and political consultants who worry that it could have severe consequences for down-ballot candidates in a year when Republicans are fighting to retain control of Congress and claw back from super-minority status in the Legislature.”

“The first thing that people see when they open their ballot is the top-of-the-ticket race, and we don’t want Republicans to be discouraged,” said Dave Gilliard, who represents candidates in several House districts that national Democrats have targeted as prime pickup opportunities because voters chose Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

Gilliard and his racist GOP friends should have thought about this a long time ago.

“We absolutely need a Republican to get through the primary,” executive director Cynthia Bryant said in a statement. “We have two great candidates who are consistently in the top of the polls, and it is our strong hope that at least one advances to the general.”

Great candidates? Very funny Ms. Bryant.

 

Latinos, GOP give #AntonioVillaraigosa a shot

Everyone knows that if Villaraigosa is going to become governor, he’s going to need Latino and GOP votes to do it.

That’s why Villaraigosa is spending so much time in the Central Valley with farmers. He’s made dozens of trips so far this year to the place white elites in the Bay Area despise and ignore.

According to columnist Dan Morain,  it’s paying off. Political action committees representing pistachio growers, berry farmers and dairy operators have given him $20,000 or more each.

It’s good to have a candidate who respects everyone.

 

Mayor Garcetti – take more homeless into your neighborhoods or pay the consequences

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti wants to “reward” Los Angeles neighborhoods that accept temporary homeless shelters by performing more encampment sweeps in those communities than in areas resistant to the housing.

In other words, if communities stop complaining about the tsunami of homeless in L.A. we promise we’ll keep the homeless gulags under control.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the mayor promises to pay for additional city cleaning crews and police services in communities that agree to find room for trailers, tents and other shorter-term shelter for people living on the street.

“I will give rewards to those communities that say yes first,” Garcetti said in an interview last week. “They’ll get more help cleaning up. They’ll get more funds. The first people to step up and say, ‘We do want to solve this in our own neighborhood,’ will see those funds flow first.”

Basically, this is a threat – take more homeless into your neighborhoods or pay the consequences.

The proposal comes as Garcetti and City Council members want to overcome the not-in-my-backyard battles over homeless services or shelters that have erupted in Venice, San Pedro and, more recently, Orange County.

Secret database reveals #NYPD brutality

Screenshot 2018-04-16 at 06.54.17.pngBuzzFeed News is making public what they say is one of the New York Police Department’s most fiercely guarded secrets: a database of disciplinary findings for about 1,800 NYPD employees who faced departmental misconduct charges between 2011 and 2015.

This information has been closely guarded for years, and completely off-limits since 2016, when the NYPD removed them from public view, citing a controversial state law that shields police officers’ misconduct.

As a result, New Yorkers who are charged with a crime have no simple way to find out if the officer who arrested them has a misconduct record that might affect their credibility with a jury.

And taxpayers as a whole have no way to assess how their police department is policing its own.

The files were provided by a source who requested anonymity. Their legitimacy was verified through more than 100 calls to NYPD employees, visits to officers’ homes, interviews with prosecutors and defense lawyers, and a review of thousands of pages of court records.

These documents formed the basis of our investigation, published last month, which identified at least 319 NYPD employees who had committed offenses serious enough to merit firing but who were allowed to keep their jobs.

This database covers a wide range of offenses, from showing up late to work, to drunk driving, to holding a handcuffed prisoner down while another officer stomped on the person’s head.

 

Mass shooters are pretty much whack-jobs

There is a clear relationship between mental illness and mass public shootings.

At the broadest level, peer-reviewed research has shown that individuals with major mental disorders (those that substantially interfere with life activities) are more likely to commit violent acts, especially if they abuse drugs.

When we focus more narrowly on mass public shootings — an extreme and, fortunately, rare form of violence — we see a relatively high rate of mental illness.

But today, the most dire warnings are coming from the heart of Silicon Valley itself. The man who oversaw the creation of the original iPhone believes the device he helped build is too addictive. The inventor of the World Wide Web fears his creation is being “weaponized.” Even Sean Parker, Facebook’s first president, has blasted social media as a dangerous form of psychological manipulation. “God only knows what it’s doing to our children’s brains,” he lamented recently.

Peace-niks confront #Pelosi, #Feinstein

Peace-niks in San Francisco protested in front of Diane Feinstein’s Pacific Heights residence, urging her to “stop the bombing!”

They also chalked messages on the walkway to her front door, telling the senator to “enforce the constitution” and “end these wars now.”

Super-wealthy Feinstein lives behind a well fortified wall, as Senate Pro Temp Kevin de León often reminds us, so there was no danger the confrontation would get out of hand.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the protesters took the extreme measure of using special blue tape to hang their signs that wouldn’t leave marks so they “wouldn’t be accused of defacing.” It’s probably a good thing protesters kept in mind the power of the Police State in San Francisco.

They walked next to Pelosi’s home, also in Pacific Heights, where their message was the same. Later, the demonstrators were joined by several other groups at Market and Powell streets.
