The brutality leveled at the African-American community by the police in Sacramento and their white elite masters has gone to another level.
A video showing a Sacramento County sheriff’s vehicle running down a protester during a march has gone viral.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the collision, captured on video by Guy Danilowitz of the National Lawyers Guild, occurred as protesters marched down Florin Road in south Sacramento.
Wanda Cleveland, was belittled in the Bee’s coverage of the story. She was dismissed as “a regular at Sacramento City Council meetings,” as if somehow that justified the deputy’s brutality.
“He never even stopped. It was a hit and run. If I did that I’d be charged,” Cleveland told reporters at the hospital. “It’s disregard for human life.”
The Sheriff’s department downplayed the incident completely. In a media release the sheriff’s department claimed their vehicles were surrounded at about 8:40 p.m. by protesters who were yelling and kicking the vehicles.
“Vandals in the crowd” caused “scratches, dents, and a shattered rear window” to a sheriff’s vehicle, the release said. The release did not address why the vehicle that struck Cleveland did not stop, and Hampton did not immediately respond to a request for further details.
The white elite in Sacramento are sending a message that the war against African-Americans is going to continue.
