Gas price hell is coming

Screenshot 2018-05-03 at 07.26.15The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the price of gas is now above $3.50 a gallon in all major cities across California. In San Francisco some gas stations are topping out at $4 or higher.

Those prices are going even higher. Some areas are going to break records.

California’s gas tax is nearly $.50 per gallon. One of the highest in the nation. Couple that with the state’s clean fuel mandates and you’ve got a recipe for gas price hell.

Elsewhere in America, the U.S. daily national average for regular gasoline is now $2.81 per gallon.

Great news for the oil industry. They stand to make billions from this summer’s driving season in California. All those campaign donations in Sacramento keep paying off.

Keep resisting California. Keep resisting.

  1. All the more reason to be thankful of the increased fuel efficiency of cars, which actually (when doing the math adjusting for inflation) makes now among the most affordable times in the past century to drive a car. Gasoline price increases will always be frustrating, but the best action to take is to minimize how much gas you actually need:
