Brian Claflin sent an email a statement to a law firm just before his death, alleging that filmmaker Gary Goddard had drugged and sexually assaulted him at age 18 in Los Angeles.
Acccording to the Los Angeles Times, Claflin had made the allegation repeatedly in the preceding decade. The Times claims to have spoken with three people — two close friends and his sister, Molly Jones — who said Claflin told them about the alleged assault, and he accused Goddard directly in an email exchange in 2006.
The rich and famous Goddard vociferously denied the allegation then, as he does now.
However Goddard knew Claflin since he was 18. According to the Times he supported Claflin’s nomadic lifestyle.
Hey, it was because Mr. Goddard was a nice guy right…not because of sex. Right?
Yeah, right, whatever you say Mr. Goddard.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened to Goddard. The director, producer and theme park designer, has faced similar allegations before.
The parade of victims is getting pretty long. Eight former members of a Santa Barbara youth theater group. Another telling friends Goddard sexually assaulted him as a child.
Rich and famous, and able to maneuver easily inside the court system, Goddard, like Hollywood sex criminal Roman Polanski, may never see the inside of a jail cell.
In the court of public opinion however, it’s pretty clear he’s another name on the growing list of Hollywood sex criminals.
